Conference Highlights
Each year the BC Cancer Agency Annual Cancer Conference features a number of special events designed to:
Engage delegates in celebrating and recognizing research, clinical, scientific and community service excellence; encourage delegate networking with each other, as well as with our valued sponsors and exhibitors; provide opportunities to explore new frontiers with outstanding presenters; have some FUN; and, reward delegates for taking the time to complete individual session and overall conference evaluations.
The 2011 conference highlights include:
The Annual Awards Banquet on Friday evening, December 2
The Awards Banquet is immediately preceded by the Poster Viewing and Cocktail Reception. The gala event features entertainment throughout the evening, a welcome address, a delicious meal served with appropriate wines, the presentations of The BC Medical Association Terry Fox Award, The Lloyd Skarsgard Research Excellence Prize, The Community Care Award, and The Poster Awards in the following categories: Population Health and Health Services,
Translation/Clinical and Biology and Informatics.
You do not need to be a conference delegate to attend the Awards Banquet. Come to help celebrate the accomplishments of award recipients who have made outstanding contributions in the oncology field in British Columbia. Details on how to purchase your tickets are below.

BC Cancer Agency Community Cancer Forum
Coinciding with the 2011 BC Cancer Agency Annual Cancer Conference, the Provincial Health Services Authority presents
The BC Cancer Agency Community Cancer Forum, a FREE public forum for all members of the community, Saturday, December 3 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, on the second level of the Westin Bayshore Vancouver conference centre. (PDF announcement)
2011 Keynote Speaker
Friday, December 2 Breakfast Presentation
John Furlong, O.C., O.B.C., CEO, Vancouver 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games has been announced as our Keynote Speaker. (website: www.johnfurlong.ca) John Furlong is described as a Sports Hero, Nation Builder and the Ultimate Crisis Manager. Now he will share his wisdom with the delegates attending the 2011 BC Cancer Agency Annual Cancer Conference during his

Meals in Conference Exhibit Hall, December 1 to 3, 2011
During the full three-day meeting, buffet breakfasts, luncheons and morning and afternoon coffee breaks are served in the main exhibitor hall, allowing delegates to network with their colleagues from across all disciplines and specialties in a relaxed environment, and to tour the exhibits hosted by the conference sponsors.
Exhibit Passport Contest
Each delegate will receive an Exhibit Passport Contest Entry form in his/her delegate bag. By visiting all the exhibitors during the three-day meeting, and receiving a stamp from each exhibitor, delegates will qualify to enter the contest to win an amazing array of tourism/hospitality prizes.
Evaluation Completion Prizes
For each session that a delegate attends, there will be a request to complete an evaluation of the specific program, which allows conference planners to plan more effectively for the following year. Each session will offer a prize draw at the end of the meeting for those who complete their evaluations and hand them in to the host. There will be the opportunity to participate in additional prize draws for the completion of the online general conference evaluation which will be emailed to all delegates immediately after the conference. Please check back for list of prizes as they are confirmed.

Please note that photography and video recording will take place at the 2011 Annual Cancer Conference in public areas of the Westin Bayshore for the purposes of advertising and promoting future conferences.
